Nex:us [The Link to Social Impact] is an inaugural flagship event organized by Enactus UNM as an initiative to raise awareness of social entrepreneurship among youths in Malaysia and engage them to tackle various social problems.

 

Participants are given the opportunity to put forth their ideas and visualize their dreams of becoming successful entrepreneurs with the help of influential social enterprises. 

The flagship event is structured to include a sales projection workshop, investment pitching simulations along with participants' business model and fund management of investments.

As part of the Enactus commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, we believe that collaboration between us, corporate, NGOs and will accelerate our progress towards sustainability in this world.

Fund Management Pitch

A workshop to educate the participants on sales projection and fund management. At the same time, the participants will also get hands-on experience by analysing the case study to make use of the learning materials and have a better understanding of the workshop.

Qualifying teams are required to have a business presentation to showcase their fund management skill on the investments attained in the second stage.

Investment Pitch

Participants pitch their business model to the investors roleplayed by judges, who decide whether to invest in their business/company. A merit-point system will be utilized by the judges where only the top 8 teams will proceed to the final stage which is the Fund Management.

OBJECTIVES

  • To empower social entrepreneurship amongst youths.

  • To encourage individuals to take ownership of problems and turn them into opportunities.

  • To encourage and educate youths with the ideas to take a step forward into social entrepreneurship.

  • To provide a network experience between students and industrial leaders.

  • To provide a platform for individuals to generate innovative sustainable social entrepreneurship ideas.

REGISTRATION

Registration
  • Requirements for participants: 
    - Currently a
    student in any college or university or youths in the age range of 17 to 26;
    - Has an idea on tackling social issues
    or;
    - Existing social enterprises that require mentorship from professional parties 

  • Price: RM20 (This acts as a deposit, and will be refunded at the end of the event day)

  • Do take note that, each group requires a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members to participate in this event.
    The Organising Team will be assigning
    individual participants to groups that do not meet the minimum number of members.

How do I participate in the Competition?

Who is eligible to join the Competition?

Students in any universities/colleges or youths in the age range of 17 to 26 that have an idea on tackling social issues or an existing social enterprise.

Do I need to be in a team to participate?

Participants are encouraged to participate in a team of 3-5 members, if not, you may register as an individual and groups will be formed according to the preferences submitted by all individuals. 

Why are deposits required?

Deposits are to encourage participants to stay throughout the entire event as this event puts emphasis on spreading knowledge among the youths. Also, each session plays a huge impact on whether a team wins the competition.

What happens after I register for the event?

Participants' applications will be processed. Once accepted, participants will receive an e-ticket and comprehensive info packs containing information for the necessary preparations. So, it is advised to go through all the materials provided for a smoother preparation.

Are there any early bird advantages?

The first 50 participants that sign up for the flagship event will be provided RM150 worth of P&G items.

Participants also have the preparation time advantage as they received the comprehensive info pack earlier.

What are the Prizes?

Winners will obtain RM2500 as startup grant as well as a 3-month mentorship from SEED.lab to execute/grow their social business/enterprise idea.

How do I receive my Prizes?

The winner will be contacted regarding the prize money/ mystery prize transfer/delivery procedure after the event.
